Pilot pics

Here are some pics from today. It's been a week and a half of a lot of demo, design, and talking! I lost my voice on Friday! It wasn't cute. Thankfully it came back today- subtitles are only cool if this was on Telemundo!

Lovely ladies

Stairs!

Never thought I would be so excited about stairs. The upstairs was an unfinshed attic that we are wanting to finish. We tore the original stairs out in the beginning and I never got a chance to really evaulate the space. Now that the stairs are almost complete, I can get up there and figure out what we are going to do. I am chomping at the bit to get up there!!

The boys love coming out here... every day!

We have some new baby chicks that we are excited about- we have mysteriously lost a few though. Thinking this nasty thing could be the culprit. Oh me Oh my.

These guys are lovin' the house, they think it's more fun hanging out by the house rather than the barn.

Crafty Birthday Party for a Princess

My sweet daughter is into cutting, gluing, and creating pretty paper goods. A simple and perfect fit for her party was a craft party at our local Crop, Paper, Scissors. I like destination parties because I don't have to stress about the mess. Of course, sweet Molly was there with her daughter and she helped a sister out by snapping some sweet moments and pics for me. Thanks Molly...

I tried to keep the cost down as much as possible. I wanted it simple and sweet.

Handmade cards, these are quick and easy to make. My friend Alissa designed the card font and I simply printed them out and added a little fluff to make them pop. Speaking of pop, popcorn is an inexpensive way to add color and character to any party. The girls ate it up! I got it locally from Off the Cob Gourmet Popcorn, every color and flavor you can imagine.

I used the same pennant punch (from Stampin' Up) I used for the invite to cut these little cuties out for the cake. Emily Nance (you have seen her before in my party section), makes the prettiest, yummiest cakes. She's a keeper folks.

These little interlocking rings are cheap and easy to make. Kind of a throwback party idea

Inexpensive party favors: Buy a cute stamp and blank cards and have your child stamp them on the card for her friends. Tie a bow and your done! The personalized "made with love" stamp is available at my special sponsors site: Lark & Lily.

The girls felt extra special drinking out of these cute little ball jars with lids.. You can find them here

It was a simple, stress free party and she was a happy little princess!

Sister Love

For the past 3 months my younger sister, her husband, and her 3 girls have been living with us in our "temporary" house. Every night it was my family of six in one room, and her family of 5 1/2 in the other. I felt like we were college roommates except with a lot of kids. There's a bond between sisters that is unspoken and natural. Even though we were living together every day in a messy house with screaming kids, we never got sick of each other. There was never a need for a break. It was perfect.

Every night was like one big slumber party.

Chip took the crew probably every other evening to work on the farm. Here they are at Lowes. I am sure he got a lot of stares. It looks like there's one missing...

Our last week together, we got to drink a lot of Cafe Mochas and shop in Round Top. I didn't think she would make it with her big belly and her small bladder. She was quite the trooper.

Her and her sweet family left this past week to head back to Alabama. I told my parents how quiet it seemed with just the six of us. I shed some tears and in a weird way felt like I was sending my kid off to college or something. I typically am tough and play the big sister role well with the good-byes, but this one was hard because they became such a huge part of our life. The older I get the more I realize what a blessing it is when family is close.

I am thankful for our time together, it was such a rich gift!

Farmhouse Update

So, the one day I don't check on the framer and this is what I found. If you notice the new pitch on the left is way out of scale compared to the right side of the house. Again, my fears of the add-on looking like an "add-on" came up and I couldn't settle on it. One of the worst feelings is when you have to tell someone to un-do their work... and then pay for their mistake.

After sketching up what I wanted, this is the new and improved roof line. The good news in all this is I found extra space above the master and the master closet for a guest bedroom and bath! I am very excited about this! I love utilizing any space I can and this new roof line allows me to have a quaint little bedroom/bath for my guests.

This is the side view of the master bedroom and closet, the two pitches are where the bedroom/bath will be.

The front porch is coming right along... The interior framing has begun and once the windows are in, the hardi siding will go up and it won't look so shabby after all! Are you starting to see it?!
